Offering bespoke weathering of Locomotives, Coaches, Vans and Wagons in various scales

I have been weathering locomotives and rolling stock for a number of years, primarily on my own models, but also for others in the hobby.

I work in the medium of paints (primarily enamels) and powders, utilising several different techniques (washes, dry brushing and airbrush etc).

I like to work from photos whenever possible, even better when chosen by the client.

I have experience working in numerous scales (4mm, 7mm etc) on locomotives, coaches, wagons and general rolling stock.

Feel free to contact me if you would like to discuss a project, or commission further.

Best Wishes

‘Having been involved in the hobby of model railways at a professional level as a builder, writer, editor and photographer, I can say with honesty that the examples of weathering I’ve seen/photographed of Tom Foster are among the finest I have witnessed. His work is very-realistic and entirely-natural. Indeed, it is my privilege to have several locomotives which I have made/modified weathered by Tom, and I recommend his services without reservation.’
Tony Wright – former editor of British Railway Modelling Magazine, layout photographer, professional model builder and creator of Little Bytham in 4mm

‘Tom’s weathering of loco’s, vans and wagons are superb and really bring the models to life and make them look like the real thing. I would highly recommend his service, having seen them close up.’

Geoff Taylor, professional model builder, and creator of  Penmaenpool and Barmouth Junction in 4mm

‘Knowing of Tom’s superb modelling skills and his fantastic weathering abilities I was only too pleased to place in his capable hands my 58xx class locomotive for a complete make over as 5810. The end result was something to marvel at with the weathering done to the highest standards which I am truly delighted with. A very talented gentleman.’
